El proyecto saldrá aparentemente este año en 12", CD y mp3

When two completely singular voices link up to record together, it can be a fascinating thing. Omar Souleyman is a Syrian musician whose music draws from a number of traditional Arabic styles but also uses dance beats and synthesizers. The American label Sublime Frequencies has released a few of his records in the West, and his live shows have been drawing rapturous reviews recently. And now we've learned that he's recorded a collaboration with Björk.

Souleyman and Björk's collaborative project will be available on limited 12", CD, and digital download sometime this year. According to a press release, it's "the first-ever major western pop release to feature Syrian dabke and Iraqi choubi music."

Souleyman has a few live shows coming up around the world, and we've got them listed below. Also below, check out Souleyman's video for "Leh Jani".
