Besides the Sleater-Kinney history, the members of Wild Flag have all sorts of connections. Brownstein and Timony released a great EP as the Spells in 2000, and in 2008, Brownstein released a few more tracks that they recorded during those sessions. Weiss and Cole are both members of the side project the Shadow Mortons. And all the members' previous bands toured together in various configurations. These ladies know each other well.

Talking to Pitchfork earlier this year, Brownstein told us that she and Weiss had worked on a film score together, but she also shot down reports that she and Weiss had started a new band together: "Let's not say that there's a new band [laughs].
