La banda terminó ayer de grabar su segundo disco, Libertad, con el productor Brendan O'Brien, que incluirá 2 versiones: una de Talking Heads, "Psycho Killer" y otra de Electric Light Orchestra, "Can't Get It Out Of My Head".
El guitarra de la banda, Dave Kushner, ha dicho: "I can't even express to u people how f%@$n' awesome it sounds!!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last-minute vocals and finish mixing. It's gonna be a good one!"

Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner posted a message on his site, stating that the band finished recording Libertad:
"Hey everyone, well.... Its finally here. The last day in the studio was yesterday ....sniff.... sniff.... and now all that's left to do is finish mixing. I can't even express to u people how f%@$n awesome it sounds!!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last minute vox and finish mixing. Its gonna be a good one!"
Another message at the site reads: "According to drummer Matt Sorum, VR have recorded cover versions of Talking Heads 'Psycho Killer' and Electric Light Orchestra's'Can't Get It Out Of My Head' during the Libertad sessions. They don't know what they'll do with them yet, but Matt hopes one of them make the album because "they're both bitchin'."
Libertad could be releases as soon as June.
Weiland habla del disco..."aun rokea pero es definitivamente mas melodico..." se podria resumir.
VELVET REVOLVER spoke to MTV.com this week about the group's just-completed second album, "Libertad". The CD was produced by Brendan O'Brien, who worked with singer Scott Weiland during his STONE TEMPLE PILOTS days.
"He has really helped the guys challenge themselves on a musical level," Weiland said. "['Libertad'] definitely still rocks, but it's incredibly more musical. There's a lot more textures, and Slash and Duff [McKagan] have really sort of risen the bar. It just goes places that the first album didn't go."
"He is the best musician in the room," guitarist Dave Kushner added. "I talked to Tom Morello because he has done records with Brendan, and he said the same thing. And to have a producer who is so musical, you can't just skate by. He'll say, 'Why don't you try this chord?' And I'm like, 'I've never heard of that chord!' "
The second factor is that, unlike with their debut, VELVET REVOLVER actually feel like a band now.
"We toured for two years," Weiland said. "And [because of that] we've really gotten close during the making of this record."
While he admits the bandmembers got a bit sick of each other touring behind 2004's "Contraband", Weiland says the guys are now looking forward to returning to the road.
"We're actually going to do a short American tour of some intimate clubs and small theaters, just to warm up," Weiland said. "Then we're going to South America and Europe, then back for a big American tour at the end of the summer."
no se si seran novedad estas declaraciones pero aqui las dejo:
Velvet Revolver Make it Official, Soph CD out July 3rd

(PR) "The feel, the energy of LIBERTAD is about the eternal struggle for freedom -- personal and social freedoms."
So says Velvet Revolver's frontman Scott Weiland in describing the band's forthcoming album LIBERTAD, scheduled for release July 3 on RCA Records. It will be preceded by the track "She Builds Quick Machines."
"LIBERTAD has soul," Weiland continued. "What we're trying to say on a musical and lyrical level is clearer this time. The songs may have started out being very personal but they took on a more universal truth as they were nurtured by the five-headed beast that is Velvet Revolver."
The band is Scott Weiland (lead vocals), Slash (guitars), Dave Kushner (guitars), Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums). The members each bring a wealth of rock history to the band: Weiland fronted Stone Temple Pilots and Slash, McKagan and Sorum were the heart of Guns N' Roses. Kushner, formerly of Wasted Youth, was in McKagan's band Loaded.
"The songs took on a life of their own in pursuit of groove. When it was nearly done, we realized the idea of freedom kept coming up. Serendipity hit when Duff came to a session wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with 'Libertad' and Slash found a coin struck with 'Libertad'. It all added up to naming the album LIBERTADâ?"which is Spanish for freedom."
Produced by Brendan O'Brien, LIBERTAD is the follow-up to CONTRABAND, VR's debut album, released in June 2004, which earned three million in sales worldwide, debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #1 and was awarded a Grammy for the lead track, "Slither."
"O'Brien really helped us challenge ourselves on a musical level. LIBERTAD definitely rocks, but there are a lot more textures and everyone really raised the bar on their skills. It just goes places the first album didn't go."
Between CONTRABAND and LIBERTAD, Velvet Revolver toured the world and supported each other through personal struggles, becoming even more tightly bonded as brothers-in-arms. "We toured for two years and got really close in the making of this album."
Velvet Revolver has confirmed a swing of 12 North American concerts launching May 3 in Los Angeles and concluding May 22 in New York City. The shows, primarily in intimate settings, will include a sampling of tracks from LIBERTAD.
The road warriors will spend June on tour in Europe with an emphasis on festival appearances, followed by a Canadian swing, and a big American tour at the end of the summer.
