Pese a todo lo que se haya dicho y aunque sea un disco "raro" me gusta aunque ya no lo escucho casi nunca. Aparte me parece que tiene una de las mejores portadas que he visto...

I was surprised when someone mentioned to me that today was the 10th anniversary of the Adore album...my first thought was surprise that it had been that long since, and how quickly time passes...it seems like a long time ago and yet, in some strange ways, not that far back either...
recently, when we went in to record 'Superchrist', it was the first time I had been back to Sunset Sound studios since the completion of the Adore album...some of the same people still work there, and spoke very kindly to me of the time spent making that album...we were working in another room for 'superchrist', but I did ask to go to peek inside the other room where many of the songs were cut, and it's funny how time can play tricks with your mind as far as the proportion of things...the tracking room was full of amps and guitars back then, and so empty it looked quite large...i could see in my mind's eye the three of us sitting in a small circle recording 'shame', a song I had just written that morning...and playing take after take after take of 'for Martha', the band in the main room and me at the piano in the isolation booth, trying to reach them thru glass...
the reaction at the time of the album's release, if memory serves me correctly, was overwhelming negative...it was a very naïve thing to try to do, to make an album that sounded little like the one before, and which spoke very openly about mourning and loss...D'arcy in particular was very critical at the time of the decision to even call it a Pumpkins album, saying that it really should have been my first solo album...then I didn't know what to think, because the hopes I placed on the album, mistaken as they were (that the band could be seen in a more open light that had more to do with artistry), were dashed in all the talk of what it didn't sound like and how it was a failure thru and thru...and secretly yearned that the embrace of it would heal some of the wounds of my mothers death and probably honestly the death of the band as well...but none of that worked, none of it came true, and it has been a circuitous journey ever since...it does seem to be the demarcation point of what was, and what became, and what might be...the fact that after 10 years the album has found it's warmer place here and there shows that it's birth and death and re-birth are very much in line with the themes of the album...which is one of hope, and taking a chance that the moment lived properly is ultimately more important than in what gets written down later...
i lived that album quite deeply, and maybe that's why I still can't listen to it...and I can no longer blame anyone if they don't either...it's one of 'those', an 'other', something apart...and the pun of the title, crude as it is, serves quite simply:

En el Electric iba con una camiseta de Tool y hable con un chavalin sevillano q al parecer era mu fan del Maynard (eso si su primer disco de Tool fue Latheralus segun m dijo), y no sabia quienes eran The Cult 
en fin juventud...
Grandioso grupo y excelente disko (aunk para mi el "Mellon Collie..." m parece su obra maestra, mjor incluso k "Siamese Dream").
Eso sí, lamentable m parece el último disko k ha sacado Billy bajo el nombre del grupo.
Es muy triste k la excelente discografía de una d ls bandas mas grandes d ls noventa haya sido manchada de esta manera...
Pues en breve se cumplirá el 15º aniversario del Siamese Dream, ese sí que es un album para celebrar. No sobra ningún tema en él, una maravilla de principio a fin.
El "Mellon Collie and the..." también fue un album cojonudo, y podría haber llegado a ser otra obra maestra si el amigo Corgan hubiese sido más comedido y en lugar de hacer un disco doble hubiese realizado una criba quedándose con los mejores temas en un único album. Después de eso parece ser que a Corgan el ego se le subió a la cabeza para ocupar el espacio libre que había dejado su pelo, y comenzó a publicar cualquier truño que componía en el baño (con alguna honrosa excepción).
Gracias al efecto hipnótico que sobre mí sigue causando el "Siamese Dream" me he seguido comprando todos los albumes que han sacado los Pumpkins (el que editó Corgan en solitario no, por ahí no paso), pero sin esperar que me vuelvan a sorprender. Casi me gusta más el album que publicó el batería de la banda, "Jimmy Chamberlin Complex", que cualquier disco de los pumpkins posterior al Mellon Collie.

No recuerdo exactamente dnd lo leí, xo en una crítica al último de ls "pumpkins" ponia: "Si a un capullo con talento le quitas el talento,¿que te queda?"
Creo que refleja al 100% la realidad, en la clase de personaje en que se ha convertido Billy Corgan...
Ya podria aprender de Maynard James Keenan, en lo de engreído y chulo son bastante parecidos, la diferencia es que el vocalista de Tool y APC si ha sabido mantener un buen nivel en lo estrictamente musical,aunque a nivel personal ya es otra historia...

Joer, lo tuyo con Billy Corgan parece algo personal. Yo no tengo el gusto de conocerlo en persona así que no puedo decir si es un capullo o no, lo único que he querido decir con lo de que se le "subió el ego" es que le ha faltado autocrítica a la hora de publicar temas. Cuando un músico tiene el ego por las nubes piensa que todo lo que compone es automáticamente algo bueno y que la masa enfervorecida asimilará gustosamente cualquier cosa suya. Es muy discutible que se le pueda considerar un capullo por eso, desde las alturas se ve todo con otra perspectiva , otra cosa es que te haya quitado la novia o se haya follado a tu perro, en ese caso estaría totalmente justificado que le llamases capullo 
Y lo de que Maynard Keenan haya sabido mantener un buen nivel en lo musical es algo cuestionable, ahí está el disco de Puscifer para demostrarlo. Que una cosa es que el amigo Maynar se quiera echar unas risas con los colegas y grabe un album de coña, pero de ahí a publicarlo y que lo vendan en las tiendas hay un buen trecho, y mucha falta de criterio.
