No tiene mal gusto el jodío Brian Viglione!
I never imagined I would someday say, "I met my wife because of Black Flag."
How beautifully fitting; music that saved my life led me to the woman that would change it.We met at the "Barred For Life" book release party at Bowery Electric, Sunday June 23rd, 2013. https://www.facebook.com/events/166611750173589/?source=1
My dear friend, Perla Cabral, had invited me to be her guest at this show, and my good buddy and XNY drummer, Jacob Schreiber, joined me in the pit, screaming along. When we went upstairs to refresh ourselves with some libations, I suddenly caught sight of the most radiant smile I had ever encountered. Like warm rays of sunshine beaming out from behind the dark counter of the bar, parting the clouds, invigorating my spirit! and I cross my heart- I knew from that very moment... I loved her.I went up to order a beer, complimenting her Rocky Horror tank top, and asked her name. What happened next is something that I can only compare to Tony's reaction in West Side Story when he first hears the word, "Maria".
She smiled and gently said, "Olya". But her pronunciation was not some dumpy, two syllable pronunciation like "Ol' yuh", but like an absolute orchid bloom of a word that nearly stopped my heart and knocked me off the bar stool.
Thus began a rather innocent and old-fashioned six-week courtship that grew throughout the summer and into autumn. Our first outing together was when I had announced my joining Violent Femmes in July and Olya suggested a celebration dinner. So before the meal, we went a lecture by artist, Marina Abramovic, in Brooklyn, which we had been invited to by my darling housemate, Siena Oristaglio.
It was the first of many wonderful times together, just cracking each other up and enjoying simple pleasure of each other's company, this boy from Greenville, New Hampshire, and this girl from Moscow, Russia. On March 7th, we married at City Hall in New York City with my father, his wife, and Siena Oristaglio as our witnesses. We look forward to a small ceremony later this year with our family and friends not able to make the trip this month, as well.

I am proud and amazed to say that I never expected to feel so RELIEVED getting married. I have never felt so solid, confident, energized, grounded, and strengthened before in my LIFE. To have someone so wonderful to laugh with, create with, and enjoy the simple things in life, to have as support and love in the dark and hard times, and who I want to see grow and blossom as a person like this is an incredible feeling which I do not take for granted.Olya, I love you so much.
Let's turn this mutha out. - Böney
