(antiMusic) Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor has plans to turn the band's negative utopia concept album 'Year Zero,' into a TV show. A show would be the final piece of the elaborate puzzle that has been centered around the album.
Reznor tells a UK paper that plans for a TV series based on the album are moving forward. "We've got a producer on board and have met with writers,” Reznor told the Sun. "We're about to pitch it to the network, so we're a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we'll see what happens."
"Year Zero" was launched earlier this year with a series of online and offline clues to the theme of the album which warns that we are headed for Fascist totalitarianism by the year 2023 unless we make sharp political and social shifts to the left. (Which historically has led to totalitarian states. Seems no one believes in the middle ground these days. )

Trent Reznor Pitching "Year Zero" TV Series
We have a hunch it won't be a children's show
Rolling Stone reports that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor is pitching his concept album Year Zero around as a TV series. Reznor mentioned during a Kerrang! magazine interview that he already has a producer attached to the project and has sat in on meetings with television writers about fleshing out the storyline.
"We're about to pitch it to the network, so we're a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we'll see what happens," Reznor said. "We may record a new soundtrack for the show. We'll see, but there's already the Year Zero record attached to the story."
The NIN mastermind added, "I don't want to spoil it. It's not formed enough yet to blow it open to everyone. We may record a new soundtrack for the show. We'll see, but there's already the Year Zero record attached to the story. We'll have to see if they opt to broadcast the show first and then we can worry about telling everybody about those sort of things." Whatever happens, Trent, we have our DVRs set already.
