Mike McCready's Flight to Mars Benefit

03/26/07
.
(PR) Flight to Mars will perform a special benefit concert for the Northwest Chapter of the CrohnÂ’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) at SeattleÂ’s Showbox on Saturday, April 7th. Local artists The Purrs, North Twin and Jeff Fielder join Flight to Mars for an evening of music in support of CCFAÂ’s continued work toward finding a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The ShowboxÂ’s 1,200 capacity will provide an intimate venue for fans and CCFA supporters. Tickets for this benefit concert are $20 plus applicable service charges and are on sale now at Ticketmaster outlets. See full story for details about special ticket packages.

Founded in 2003, Flight to Mars, a tribute to the 80Â’s rock band UFO, features Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready. That same year, the yet to be named Flight to Mars lineup played live at SeattleÂ’s Sunset Tavern as part of a surprise encore set after The Rockfords, McCreadyÂ’s other side project, played the first ever CCFA benefit concert. Joining McCready in Flight to Mars are friends and local musicians Tim DiJulio (guitar), Gary Westlake (bass), Kelly Van Camp (drums) and Paul Passereli (vocals). In 2002 McCready made public his 20-year battle with CrohnÂ’s Disease and ulcerative colitis and has since been committed to raising awareness and funding for CCFA. "As a patient living with Crohn's and colitis, the CCFA has played a huge part in helping me get the support and information that I need," says McCready. "I'm grateful that my band mates and friends can support and join me for a night of music and fun that will help us find a cure for these debilitating diseases."
